What are Porcelain Dental Veneers?
Porcelain dental veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells attached to front of uneven, chipped, broken, or discolored teeth to give you the ideal beautiful smile. Many people get between six to eight veneers on their top front teeth in order to create a highly esthetic symmetrical smile.
Most Common Reasons You May Need Porcelain Dental Veneers
Not everyone is blessed to be born with perfectly aligned beautiful teeth that light up the room. There were many movie stars on the silver screen that started their career not looking their best due to crooked teeth, short teeth, gummy smiles, or gaps between their front teeth. Through the powerful transformation of cosmetic dentistry, these movie stars graced us with their perfect beautiful smiles. Do not let the cosmetic imperfections of your teeth hold you back from sharing your beautiful smile with the world. Dental veneers are the most conservative type of cosmetic dentistry that improve the esthetic of your smile by closing gaps and masking uneven, discolored, chipped or broken teeth to give you the most perfect ideal smile, so you can smile with confidence!

Types of Dental Veneers
Esthetic dental veneers comprise of two types: Porcelain veneers and lithium disilicate (eMax) veneers. Both Porcelain veneers and lithium disilicate (eMax) veneers will create an esthetically beautiful smile that is natural, luster, and stain resistant.
Porcelain Dental Veneers
Porcelain dental veneers can help you achieve your perfect smile with minimal removal of tooth structure. Porcelain dental veneers are 0.5mm thin porcelain ceramic shells that mimic the light-reflecting properties of a natural tooth, but they are stain-resistant to keep your smile bright longer. Porcelain dental veneers are more opaque and less transparent compared to eMax veneers. Porcelain veneers are prone to chipping and cracking because of their thickness, especially in patients that bite into hard foods/objects or grind their teeth. A night guard would be recommended for patients that have bruxism (grinding teeth).
eMax Veneers
eMax veneers are the ideal cosmetic treatment to achieve the highest esthetic smile. eMax veneers are 0.3-0.5mm thin lithium disilicate glass-ceramic shells that give them greater translucency and strength. eMax veneers are harder and thinner than porcelain veneers. The semi-transparent properties of eMax veneers are a closer match to natural teeth. Due to the physical properties of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic, eMax veneers are very durable and can last 20 years or more with proper dental care, such as brushing, flossing and routine checkups.
Special care with Porcelain Dental Veneers
To preserve the integrity of your veneers, cut food into small bites when eating. Porcelain dental veneers are sturdy, but biting directly into hard foods like apples can create stress on the veneers and eventually fracture the veneers. It is especially important to maintain good oral hygiene with daily brushing and flossing to ensure that your dental veneers will last for many years.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to get veneers?
Cost of veneers per tooth can vary significantly depending on where you live. eMax veneers can range from $1,000 to $2,500 per tooth.
How long do veneers last?
Veneers last between 10 to 15 years, but their longevity depend on the patient’s oral hygiene.
Do veneers hurt?
Advancement in dentistry has made getting dental veneers a pain-free process. Local anesthetics are used to ensure patient comfort and a painless dental experience. Patients can experience some soreness and tenderness in numbing sites afterwards, which can be remedied with over-the-counter pain medications.
Are veneers worth the money?
Veneers can provide an immediate and dramatic improvement in the appearance of your smile, making them a valuable investment for those looking to enhance their smile.
Do they have to shave your teeth for veneers?
Teeth prepared for veneers are shaved down slightly to accommodate the veneer’s thickness. Dental veneers involve removing a small portion of the enamel to accommodate the veneer’s thickness. It’s a permanent alteration. If veneers need to be removed or replaced, it usually involves replacing them with new veneers.
Can veneers be done in one day?
Getting dental veneers involve two visits to the dentist. At first visit, prepare the teeth, take impressions and place on temporary veneers. At second visit, cement your permanent veneers. Getting dental veneers usually takes two weeks.
Can you get veneers on top teeth only?
Veneers are not required for all the teeth in mouth. Veneers are meant to dramatically change your smile; therefore, the upper 6 front teeth are the most common teeth with dental veneers.
What are the best veneers for front teeth?
Porcelain veneers and eMax veneeers are the most popular dental veneers. eMax veneers are the best veneers for front teeth because they have the best translucency that mimic natural teeth. eMax veneers provide the highest esthetic for your smile.
Can you get cavities with veneers?
You cannot get cavities on the veneers, but you can get cavities on the part of your tooth that is not covered by veneers. Therefore, it is especially important to maintain good oral hygiene with daily brushing and flossing to ensure that your investment will last for many years.
Can I bite into an apple with veneers?
You should not bite into an apple with veneers. Dental veneers are sturdy, but biting directly into hard foods like apples can create stress on the veneers and eventually fracture the veneers. To preserve the integrity of your veneers, cut food into small bites when eating.

Dr. Yang is very professional and does not suggest unneeded work just to line his pockets. He’s helpful and completely explains everything. His new assistant Jennifer is AMAZING!!! She is the nicest and most sympathetic assistant I’ve met in a long time. Dentist visits are often not the most pleasant, but the team at Dr. Yang’s office try their best to make it one. You definitely won't be disappointed!

This location is located in an older strip mall but don't let that scare you away! Inside you'll find above all a CLEAN, SUPER cute dental office! Dr. Yang and his entire staff are great! I hadn't been to the dentist in a LONG time because of a bad experience I had with another dental office. I'm also a BIG baby...I can't handle pain! Dr. Yang did an AMAZING job at numbing me, so I felt absolutely NOTHING! I thought for sure I'd feel pain once everything wore off, but I didn't! My bite is also PERFECTLY aligned! At other dental visits elsewhere, my bite has usually ALWAYS ended up slightly off which causes a bunch of problems later. Thank you Dr. Yang and staff for quality pain frVerifiedGaby G.2024-09-12Everyone at Perfect Smile Dental is kind, professional and they all take pride in their work. I have been a patient for about a year and my doctor has taking care of the many issues I faced with Mt teeth. He talks me through my issues and gives me solutions and options.VerifiedErica H.2024-08-29I was having gum sensitivity and they quickly took me in and was such an easy process for me to be seen with no hassles. The dentist was very thorough in explaining every step to me and the assistant was also very friendly as well as the receptionist. Great service!VerifiedMarisa C.2024-05-02Yes this is a long review but they deserve it!! I had a positive experience here and would recommend this dentist to anyone. (I actually already have!) Due to a variety of factors, I had not been to the dentist in at least 2-3 years. I was in desperate need of a cleaning. I researched online which local dentists took my Medi-Cal plan and had availability. I read reviews to check which dentists were known for a gentle and safe approach. I obviously found the right one - which turned out to be important because I had to come back more times to fill several cavities. This was extremely scary for me. But Dr. Yang, Sabrina and Magdalena made the whole process as comfortable, efficient, and painless as possible. They answered all my questions, continually checked in & paused as needed, and let me know in advance everything they were doing and why. I also have never been to a dentist that had so much useful technology. The space itself was modern and clean. I appreciated that they had mouthwash in the bathroom lol. I actually feel more confident now that my teeth are clean and healthy. I hope I can come back for my appt already scheduled for the fall. Anyone who has sensory issues or dental anxiety (or just wants healthier teeth//to have a more positive and educated experience at the dentist) could benefit from making an appt here.VerifiedHeang L.2024-03-25I found this dentist when I was searching for a Dentist in Whittier. Due to severe grinding, most of my teeth have problems. I hesitated going to the dentist for years until my dental bridge broke. When I came to see Dr. Yang, his office was clean, welcoming and professional. The staff was really friendly. Dr. Yang was very through during the exam. He took photos of my teeth and showed me on the X-rays where I had cavities and where I needed to have dental crowns to prevent my teeth from breaking. He also told me I needed a night guard to protect my teeth from breaking when I grind my teeth when I am sleeping. I was very impressed with his attention to details. He took his time in explaining and answering all my questions. I don't think I have had a dentist that cared enough to take the time to explain everything so I can understand what was going on in my mouth. I had the best cleaning. My teeth never felt so clean before! I have been coming here for my dental needs and have been very happy with their customer service that I decided to stay with this dentist for my dental implants. I highly recommend this office!Verifiedluis s.2024-03-05Recently went saturday 3/2/2024 to get a tooth extracted from the minute I called towards the end of getting tooth removed front desk & dentist showed professionalism. Gave a fair price friendly environment also made some recommendations worth knowing!VerifiedJoe G.2023-11-05I had a pleasant no pain experience at this dentist. Very easy to set up appointment everyone was real nice. Highly recommended.VerifiedElizabeth M.2023-10-14I have nothing but positive things to say about this dental clinic. They saw me as soon as possible when I broke my filling and tooth and wasted no time in getting me prepped and ready for a crown. Dr. Yang is amazing. I feel very comfortable with him and his staff. He always makes sure I'm alright and not in pain before proceeding with the next step and explains everything thoroughly. I'm very happy I found him and his clinic. I couldn't ask for a better team. I definitely recommend him. 10/10 best dentist!VerifiedGilbert P.2023-10-14I cannot say enough good things about this office. Dr. Yen is a master of his craft, i have complete confidence in his ability. I hadn't had dental check in 15 plus years and he found all my problems. I will be returning to him to address them in the near future. The front desk cleric Magdalena (hope this is correct spelling) is very knowledgeable, she will guild you thru the process with ease. It never good news to be told you need dental work, but she makes it as easy as possible. I will update this after my dental work is done and fully recovered. Furthermore, they give you an easy-to-understand paperwork detailing everything just be sure to double check the back page. I know I'm forgetting something it will be in the next update.
